Reasoning:

Alphanumeric Series, Coding-Decoding, Equality-Inequality, Ranking, Direction Test, Blood Relations, Syllogism, Sitting Arrangement, Puzzles, Input-Output, Data Sufficiency, Decision Making, Cause & Effect, Course of Action, Statements & Assumptions, Statements & Conclusions, Statements & Arguments, Inference from Passage.

English Language:

Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, Para jumbles, Fill in the blanks, Error Spotting, Miscellaneous, Paragraph Completion, Verbal Ability.

General Awareness:

Current Affairs, Financial Awareness with special reference to Banking Industry, Economics.

Computer Knowledge:

Languages, Basic and Hardware Software, History of Computers, Devices.

RBI Assistant Exam is conducted to be conducted in three phases (Prelims + Mains + Language Proficiency Test (LPT)).

Prelims Exam:

The preliminary examination has three sections: Reasoning Ability, Numerical Ability and English Language.

The prelims exam is conducted online and candidates are allocated total duration of 1 hour to complete the exam. It consists of 3 sections with a total of 100 questions and maximum score of 100 marks. There is negative marking and 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer attempted by a candidate.

Mains Exam Pattern:

The mains exam has five different sections: Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, Computer Knowledge and General Awareness.

There is negative marking of for the wrong answers attempted by the candidate. No marks will be deducted if the question is left unanswered or blank.

Language Proficiency Test (LPT):

The candidates provisionally shortlisted from the main on-line examination will have to undergo a language proficiency test (LPT).

Based on the score of preliminary examination students are qualified for the mains exam. It is mandatory for all the candidates to qualify these three rounds to ensure final selection to the post of Assistant in Reserve Bank of India.

Pay Scale:

Apart from the status, designation and job security, one major reason for lakhs of candidates to apply for the post of Assistant in RBI is the RBI Assistant salary. The detailed RBI Assistant salary is as given below:

Assistants will draw a starting basic pay of Rs. 14,650/- per month (i.e. Rs. 13,150 plus two advance increments admissible to graduates) in the scale of 13150-750 (3)- 15400- 900(4)- 19000-1200(6)- 26200-1300 (2)- 28800- 1480(3)- 33240 – 1750(1) – 34900 (20 years) and other allowances, viz Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, City Compensatory Allowance, Transport Allowance etc. as admissible from time to time. At present, initial monthly Gross emoluments for Assistants is approximately Rs. 32,528/- including House Rent Allowance @ of 15 %.

Nationality / Citizenship of Applicant:

A candidate applying for RBI Assistant job must be

  • a citizen of India or
  • a subject of Nepal, or
  • a subject of Bhutan, or
  • a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age Limit:

A candidate must range between 20-28 years of age to be eligible for RBI Assistant Exam. Age relaxation is given too candidates belonging to reserved category.

Educational Qualification:

A candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree with an aggregate of 50 % and above in any discipline to be eligible for the RBI Assistant Exam. He/She must hold knowledge of computers as well as have the proficiency in the official language of the concerned state of Union Territory.
